Crystal Castles have unveiled new singer Edith Frances as they make their live comeback. The band will perform at two festivals in South Africa this weekend and appeared at SoundsWild in Johannesburg last night. The band will also play SXSW in Austin, Texas next year. The South Africa dates represent Crystal Castles' first with new singer Edith, who replaced Alice Glass when she left to pursue a solo career. Since Glass' departure, Crystal Castles have released two new tracks. 'Decide' features vocalist Edith Frances, prior to her reveal some fans had speculated the vocals were Ethan Kath manipulating his own voice to sound female. Crystal Castles returned earlier this year with Kath saying Glass did not contribute lyrics or vocals to some of their biggest songs. Glass subsequently hit back at Kath, sending a series of tweets defending herself and her contribution to Crystal Castles music. In one of the messages she wrote: "Manipulative statements about my contributions to the band only reinforce the decision I made to move on to other things." Crystal Castles formed in Toronto in 2004 and went on to release three studio LPs – 2008's '(i)', 2010's '(ii) and 2012's '(iii)'. During their career, the band worked with Cure frontman Robert Smith on 2010 single 'Not In Love' and also took part in the NME Awards Tour in 2011 alongside Magnetic Man, The Vaccines and Everything Everything. Their last show together was on October 4, 2013 in Mexico. RIP Crystal Castles: The Duo's Deranged Career In 15 Thrilling Photos
